Type of Disposal

Furniture order

I'm buying furniture from BEDANDBASICS in this order. I understand disposal is only available with a furniture purchase.

Item ready for collection

My item is under 1.5 cubic metres and 60kg, will be cleared of loose items, and can go in a lift. Otherwise, stair charges or cancellation may apply.

Right to cancel

I understand BEDANDBASICS may cancel a disposal with a full refund if it can't be done safely or within a reasonable time.

How it works

1Choose the item type. Pick it from the “Type of Disposal” list above and add one disposal per item. For two sofas, add two.

2Check out with your furniture order. Disposal is only available with a BEDANDBASICS furniture purchase.

3Clear the item before we arrive. Remove all loose items and make sure there’s space to carry it out.

4We take it away when we deliver. Our team removes it on the same trip as your new furniture.

Free old mattress removal

Free mattress disposal is like-for-like: for each new mattress you buy from us, we’ll take away one old mattress free. The old mattress must be the same size or smaller, and no more than 1 inch thicker than the new one. Any extra old mattresses are charged at the usual price. Some special-price mattresses don’t include free disposal; their product page will say so.

Good to know

Disassembly: simple disassembly of up to 10 minutes is included. For anything more complicated, please take it apart before we arrive. We can’t remove items fixed to walls or ceilings.
Book ahead: we plan truck space for every disposal, so we can’t usually add disposals on the day. Last-minute disposal or dismantling, if we can do it, costs from $20 per item, advised on the spot.
Lifts and stairs: if the item can’t go in a lift or there’s no working lift, we may cancel the disposal and refund you, less a 10% processing fee. If we agree with you that it can be carried safely down the stairs, it’s $10 per item for each storey without lift access, paid in cash to our team before we start. This includes stairs in landed homes and HDB maisonettes.
Loose items: we’re not responsible for anything left on or in the item.
Cancellations: please cancel at least 48 hours before your delivery. We can’t accept cancellations after that, as truck space and manpower are already set aside for you.
Our right to cancel: if a disposal can’t be done safely or in reasonable time, we may cancel it and give you a full refund.

Questions

Can I book disposal without buying furniture?

No. Disposal is only available with a BEDANDBASICS furniture order, as we remove your old item when we deliver.

How many disposals should I add?

One for each item. A dining set (table and chairs) counts as one if you choose a dining set option.

Is mattress disposal free?

Yes, like-for-like. For each new mattress you buy, we’ll take away one old mattress free, as long as it’s the same size or smaller and no more than 1 inch thicker than the new one. Some special-price mattresses don’t include free disposal.

Can I add a disposal on the day?

Usually not, as truck space is planned in advance. If we can, last-minute fees from $20 per item apply.

What if my item is too big or heavy?

Each disposal covers items up to 1.5 cubic metres and 60kg. Email hello@bedandbasics.sg before you order and we’ll check for you.

I live in a walk-up or maisonette. Is there a stairs charge?

Yes. If we can carry it safely down the stairs, it’s $10 per item for each storey without lift access, paid in cash to our team.
